The last time Apple announced an iPad mini, it was in 2015 when the tablet was in its fourth iteration. But there’s hope for those who really liked the smallest of Apple’s tablets. Taiwanese news site China Times have sources telling it that Apple will be launching two low-priced iPads in 2019
A new iPad mini is scheduled for release in the first half of 2019. The report also states that production for it is already underway. That said, it’s unknown if it will come with a design upgrade similar to the one that we saw with this year’s iPad Pro series.
Alongside it, Apple is also reportedly planning to announce a standard iPad for 2019. This one is expected to come with a design refresh that’s like what the iPad Pros of this year went through. Production is said to begin in 2019, with its release being planned for the second half of the year.
To fulfill the low-priced bit of the description, the China Times report also says that Apple is switching its display suppliers. Leading us to believe that the new iPad minis will supposedly be using display panels supplied by BOE, based in South Korea.
