Street Fighter V Arcade Edition will start showing ads starting 11 December 2018. According to a Capcom blog post, they will appear in “several locations in-game to remind you about costumes, bundles and the Capcom Pro Tour.”
You’ll be seeing these ads on loading screens, character costumes, and certain stages. The second one will add certain special prints onto the costumes of characters, kind of like the jerseys of sponsored sports teams. The last one, on the other hand, will just make use of stage assets when applicable.
You will have the option to turn this off, but leaving it on will award you with more Fight Money in Ranked and Casual matches. In other words, turning them off will mean that the process of unlocking content will be that much slower.
To some extent, you can live with leaving them on, since they’re mostly innocuous in nature. That said, seeing them over and over between and during matches can get annoying, especially if you’ve paid real money for content. It also sets a precedent of putting ads in premium games when they’ve always only appeared on freemium ones.
