Last time, Huawei was teasing that it is close to releasing a smartphone with a display hole on the front for the selfie camera. The company then took another step further by having it on stage during the 18th birthday celebration of Chinese singer Jackson Yee which is one of the ambassadors for Huawei Nova series recently.
Tentatively to be known as the Huawei Nova 4, the phone looks to push the body-to-screen ratio to the limit. With curved corners on the display, the preview also hints that there will be some degree of curving on the sides of the phone. While it may not as much as the Mate 20 Pro, the lack of sides on the phone case suggests that there will be some curving happening.
The most prominent feature of the phone is the camera cutout on the top-left of the phone. Huawei’s take on Samsung’s Infinity-O display looks to be spot-on. There is a bit of a chin bezel but at least the phone doesn’t have a notch.
The back of the phone is covered, but reports are saying it will share similarities with the Huawei P20 Pro. Some reports have also pointed out USB Type-C and an audio jack as well.
Huawei is expected to have the phone on sale in China on December 12. No price has been leaked so far although, given the popularity of Nova series in certain markets outside of China such as Malaysia, it is quite possible that the phone’s global release will happen just after the Chinese launch.
