A month after Red Dead Redemption 2 was released, Rockstar is slowly opening up the Red Dead Online Beta floodgates. The beta is being rolled in phases, with Ultimate Edition buyers and active players getting earlier access than others.
Specifically, Ultimate Edition owners will get access to Red Dead Online Beta today, 27 November 2018. Next to get access are players that played the game yesterday, who will get access to the online beta tomorrow, on 28 November. Those who play the game any time this week will get access on Thursday, 29 November. And finally, on Friday, 30 November, Red Dead Online Beta will be open to every owner of Red Dead Redemption 2.
For those who belong to the two groups in the middle, you’ll need to be signed into your PSN account and your Rockstar Social Club account. This is simply so that Rockstar knows that you were playing during those days.
Red Dead Online looks to be Red Dead Redemption 2 what GTA Online was to GTAV – the frequently updated online component with its own set of quests and challenges that you can take on with friends. We expect that the Dead Eye ability will be removed but beyond that, we’re keen to find out what other differences the online experience has compared to the main game, and if the companion app can be used for this.
