Samsung’s foldable phone is expected to ship out in as early as March next year. And if you thought you needed to sell one of your kidneys in order to afford the latest iPhones, you’ll probably have to sell more than that if you’re planning on getting the foldable device next March. Sources close to Gizmodo UK say that the price of the phone could range between the £1500 (~RM8064) and £2000 (~RM10752) mark.
We’ve heard previously that the phone could cost more than an iPhone XS, but this paints a clearer picture of the new heights that smartphone prices can reach. To put things into perspective; the iPhone XS Max with 512GB of storage costs RM7049 in Malaysia.
To be fair, smartphone prices are generally higher in the UK, with near dollar-to-dollar similarities to US prices. With that in mind, it’s entirely possible that Samsung’s foldable phones will cost between US$1500 (~RM6290) and US$2000 (~RM8386) instead. Even then, those are still astronomical prices for a phone.
While we’ll be hoping that the price for Samsung’s foldable phone won’t be as high as reports speculate, we’ll only know for sure once Samsung lifts the veil on the phone officially next year.
