Just yesterday, there were rumours that the top-of-the-line variant of the Samsung Galaxy S10 would have up to six cameras built into it, along with the possibility of 5G support built into it. Today, a report now says that the same premium Galaxy S10 model will feature a ceramic back, and in the colours black and white.
To recap, reports suggests that Samsung isn’t just working on a single Galaxy S10 model, but a total of four different models. Out of the four models, the highest tier variant won’t just have the aforementioned six camera and 5G network support, but also a display that measures in at 6.7-inches.
And while no word was ever mentioned, it’s highly likely that the Galaxy S10 will be powered by a Samsung Exynos chipset that will be on par with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8150 SoC.
As a material, ceramic’s hardness is universally acknowledged as being slightly harder than diamond and sapphire. Simply put; if you intend to scratch it, you’re going to need a tool that’s tipped with either of the two minerals.
Phones with ceramic bodies are nothing new, and Samsung is undoubtedly a little late to this party. Xiaomi’s has been making phones with ceramic backs for years; a prime example being its Mi Mix series smartphones.
In any case, there’s still no official word on whether this implementation is true. Anything can change between now and the Galaxy S10’s expected launch period, which is rumoured to be in February 2019.
