Bad news, Harry Potter fans. Niantic, the company responsible for the creation of the mobile games Pokemon Go and Ingress Prime, has reportedly delayed the release of Harry Potter: Wizards Unit until 2019.
The game was first announced back in November last year, was supposed to have made its debut before the end of 2017 as well. The reason behind the delay is, at the time of writing, still vague and unclear. On top of that, Niantic has given no exact date of launch for the game.
The news isn’t without a silver lining. As you can see above, Niantic has released a teaser video for the game. It shows a player casting an “Immobilus” spell at a Golden Snitch, in order to capture it. She then proceeds to plaster a political poster on the nearby wall, before ultimately teleporting herself to safety, away from the incoming threat.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is expected to utilise the same game mechanics as Niantic’s Pokemon Go AR Game. The only difference being that instead of capturing Zubats and Bulbasaurs, players will have to engage some of the more fantastic beasts of the Harry Potter universe.
