Truth to be told, there are already quite a number of e-wallet apps in Malaysia and here comes another one. It was recently revealed that Petronas is currently testing its own e-wallet app called Setel in selected Petronas stations within Klang Valley.
Through the new Setel app, customers are able to pay for their petrol directly from their smartphone without the need to queue up at the counter. Based on the screenshot of the app, all users need to do is select the pump number and choose either to purchase a full tank or specific amount of fuel before entering the PIN number they have set for the app in order to authorize the fuel purchase.
Users are also recommended to link their Petronas Mesra loyalty card to the app in order to obtain points whenever they purchased fuel using Setel. To top up funds into the e-wallet app, users can choose to utilize either credit card or online banking.
Even though the Setel e-wallet app is currently still in the test period, users are able to download and register to use it for fuel purchase at selected Petronas stations as listed below:
At the moment, the Setel e-wallet app is only available for Android devices. Nevertheless, it will be made available to iOS devices soon enough as pointed out on Setel’s official website.
