With the launch of NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX series GPUs, it’s fair to ask when NVIDIA and its notebook partners will be shipping out GeForce RTX equipped notebooks. The answer to that question: early next year.
According to industrial sources close to us, notebooks fitted with a mobile version of NVIDIA’s new Turing GPU will be making an appearance sometime during the first quarter of 2019, or Q1 2019. Dissecting the timeline, it’s highly likely that a RTX-powered notebook could make an appearance as early as CES 2019. An event slated to begin on 9 January 2019.
NVIDIA first launched its GeForce GTX 10 series powered notebooks a little more than two years ago. Suffice to say, NVIDIA’s new discrete GPUs were groundbreaking, effectively changing the landscape for the gaming notebook ecosystem.
As these things usually go, there’s still isn’t a full hardware specification list for the aforementioned notebooks, but it’s no stretch to the imagination to envision NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX series discrete GPUs being accompanied by the latest 9th generation Intel Core processors and memory modules sporting both high capacities and higher frequencies.
In any case, we’ll just have to play the “wait and see” game, so manage your expectations till then. At least, until something tangible is shown by one of NVIDIA’s notebook partners next year.
