In massive open world games, getting lost and having to open up the map is a pretty common occurrence. That said, it can be a very immersion-breaking thing to do. So rather than having you pause the game to do that in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll be able to do that using your phone or tablet.
Rockstar has announced that there will be a Red Dead Redemption 2 Official Companion App for Android and iOS. As mentioned, you can check the in-game map using the app. you can pan and zoom, set waypoints and mark areas of interest by tapping on the screen of your device.
But in addition, the app will also display other in-game stats as well as main character Arthur’s journal. This make the RDR2 Companion App a lot more useful than the one for GTA V, without actually tying an in-game mechanic to the app.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App will be available at the same time as the game itself. And that’s tomorrow, 26 October 2018.
