HTC will be officially launching its virtual reality headset, Vive in Malaysia later this month. This was revealed through a media invitation for the launch event that we received yesterday.
The invite also revealed that HTC will likely to release both the original Vive VR System as well as the newer Vive Pro Starter Kit in Malaysia. Aside from their physical differences, the Vive Pro mainly offers improved visual capability over the original Vive through higher resolution display and AMOLED panel alongside the support for SteamVR Tracking 2.0 which allows for bigger tracking space.
In general, the launch will finally fulfill the promise that HTC made a few years ago. For those who are not aware of it, the HTC Vive was originally scheduled for in Malaysia sometime in late 2016 but the plan was then abruptly shelved.
Naturally, we expect HTC to reveal the pricing for both Vive packages at the launch event. Do note that it is going to be rather costly though since the original Vive VR System is currently priced at USD 499 (about RM 2076) in the United States while the Vive Pro Stater Kit is listed at USD 799 (about RM 3325).
