Huawei’s impressive Mate 20 series launch lineup now includes a backup solution for the flagship device. Called the ST310-S1, the device is actually a 1TB external hard drive that will automatically backup data from any Mate 20 device.
At first glance, it looks like a copy of the Google Home. The Huawei ST310-S1 hides underneath the water-resistant cloth cover a large storage solution for the recently announced Huawei Mate 20 series. Users can either automatically or manually engage backup of their Mate 20 device when connected to the ST310-S1.
It also supports pass-through charging, when using a 5V/2A charger, the 9V/2A fast charge or a 5V/4.5A super fast charge adapter. So far no news if the device supports Huawei’s newest 40W charger. To that end, the devices uses USB Type-C for connectivity at both ends for the transmission of power and data.
A drawback for the device is limited device support right now (only for the Huawei Mate 20 series) although it is stated on the website that support for other devices will be available at a later date. For now, it seems the ST310-S1 is only slated for the Chinese market.
