This particular company has appeared at Huawei’s launch event before and just like clockwork, Porsche Design is here once again at the launch of Mate 20 series. This time around, both companies have worked together to come out with the new Porsche Design Huawei Mate 20 RS.
In general, what we are looking here is a custom interpretation of Mate 20 Pro by Porsche Design. Among things that made it different from the original Mate 20 Pro is the integration of leather on its back.
Clearly inspired by its motorsport’s heritage, the leather back of Mate 20 Pro was nicely separated by a glass center that also includes a very subtle set of full-length stripes. Not only that, there is no protruding camera module on the Mate 20 RS as well; unlike the one on the original Mate 20 Pro.
Specs-wise, the Mate 20 RS is indeed identical to Mate 20 Pro which includes the new Kirin 980 processor and a 6.39-inch 2K+ OLED curved display as well as the in-screen fingerprint scanner. Same goes for its rear triple camera module as well which consisted of the 40MP wide-angle camera alongside the 20MP ultra wide-angle camera and 8MP telephoto shooter.
Huawei has also retained Mate 20 Pro’s 24MP 3D depth sensing front camera and 4200mAh battery for the equally new Mate 20 RS. When it comes to memory and storage configurations, the Mate 20 RS has more though at 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB internal storage. A leather case has also been provided for the phone as standard.
Another factor that differentiates them apart is their pricing. Rolling out into the market starting from 16 October onwards, the 256GB variant of Mate 20 RS can be obtained with a price tag of EU 1695 (about RM 8148 ) while the 512GB model goes for EU 2095 (~RM 10071).
However, the phone’s availability and pricing in Malaysia is not yet known at the moment. We’ll keep you updated once we hear more from Huawei Malaysia.
