The brand’s intention to return into the market was already known for quite a while. However, it is only today that the intention has turned into a reality in the form of a phone that is simply called the Palm.
Featuring an aluminum chassis alongside Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on both sides of the phone, the new Palm is equipped with 3.3-inch HD display and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor. It also comes standard with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.
Other than that, the new Palm also comes with a 12MP rear camera as well as an 8MP front camera. While it might be missing an audio jack, the phone does offer Bluetooth connectivity and it apparently has a battery life of up to 8 hours through its 800mAh battery.
Despite having rather adequate specs to be a working smartphone and even adheres to IP68 water and dust protection standard, the Palm is not meant as a standalone device though. Instead, the phone is designed more as a companion phone for users’ main Android phone or Apple iPhone which is why it features a simplified, smartwatch-like user interface even though it is running on Android 8.1.
Priced at USD 349 (about RM 1450), the new Palm which is manufactured by TCL will be released in the United States this coming November. However, it is only available exclusively for Verizon customers since the phone will be sold as an add-on device to their existing plans.
