There were plenty of rumors and leaks regarding them prior to the launch event today but here they are: Intel has finally announced the 9th Generation Intel Core processor lineup for the desktop market. The new batch of processors was introduced alongside the 9th Gen Intel Core X-series and the 28-core Intel Xeon W-3175X CPUs.
Leading the new group of products is the Intel Core i9-9900K and yes, it will indeed come with that multi-sided translucent packaging. Featuring 8-cores and 16-threads capability, Intel stated that the Core i9-9900K is the company’s first ever mainstream chip with such processing setup.
Not only that, the company also claimed that the Core i9-9900K is the world’s best gaming processor which is quite a bold claim. Intel has also stated that its 9th Gen Core desktop processors are able to deliver up to 15% of improvements for overall system performance against previous generation processors.
Meanwhile, here is a look at the general architecture and launch lineup for the 9th Gen Intel Core desktop processors:
While these processors are made for motherboards with the equally new Intel Z390 chipset, they are compatible with existing Intel 300 series motherboards. The new 9th Gen Intel Core desktop processors will be made available in the market starting from 19 October onwards globally.
