It seems that Nintendo has plans on creating the successor to its current Switch game console. According suppliers and other sources close to the Nintendo , the Japanese video game company believes that refresh of its game console is necessary. If it wishes to maintain the sales momentum of the device.
Unfortunately, there isn’t any details about the future console’s hardware. In fact, there are still debates about what upgrades – be it hardware or software – the next-generation console should get. As a start, there is the possibility of the display being upgraded. Making it brighter, thinner, and more power-efficient than the display currently being used on the Switch.
Besides that little forethought, that is it. There isn’t even any word on whether Nintendo will still retain the NVIDIA Tegra X1 SoC used in the current Switch, or opt out for a beefier (and probably more power efficient) mobile processor.
The current Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. The console is unique from its competitors, in that it is the only current generation game console that is both a home and portable gaming machine. To date, Nintendo has sold more than 20 million units worldwide. It is also the fastest-selling console of the brand.
Nintendo is eyeing a summer launch in 2019 for its next generation Switch console. Indicating that we could see the new portable console sometime during the middle of the year. Till then, it would be best to take this bit of news with a grain of salt.
In the mean time, you can also read our review about the current Switch, if that will help you decided whether the console is for you.
