Dual-display phones are not new. The YotaPhone series features a second eInk screen at the back for low-power display. Nubia intends to follow in the dual-screen design footsteps it seems. To that end, the Nubia Z18S has appeared on TENAA, sporting a second OLED screen on the back
Called the Nubia NX616J, the phone looks to be a high-end smartphone if the specs listed are anything to go by. An octa-core processor running at 2.65GHz is at the heart of the phone, suggesting that this SoC could be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. It will have either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. It is also expected to run Android 8.1 out of the box, and have a 3700mAh battery built-in as well.

The main screen is a 6.26-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. While the second screen is a 5.1-inch 720 x 1520 pixel OLED panel. The camera specs is currently up in the air – the leaked video clearly shows a dual-camera setup, but TENAA only lists a single 16MP camera at the back.
It should be noted that the phone is still in its prototype phase. But even if the phone never graduates out of its R&D stage, it is undeniably great to see more companies trying to break out from the design tedium for consumers. Obviously, there are questions about the Z18S’ second display. While it is not a conservative in its power consumption as eInk, it would still consume significantly less power compared to an LCD panel. No release dates have been leaked at the time of writing, but stay tuned for more info on the Nubia Z18S.
