Xiaomi has announced the Mi 8 Pro, effectively expanding its Mi 8 lineup of devices. It is essentially the Mi 8 Explorer Edition, just without the translucent skin, and a 6GB RAM option.
In other words, there is very little difference between the Mi 8 and the Mi 8 Pro, much like between the Mi 8 and its Explorer Edition. That said, it’s the small differences between them that matter. Key of which being the in-display fingerprint scanner.
Now that the Mi 8 Pro is around to fill the gap between the standard Mi 8 and the Explorer Edition, there are some spec choices to be made as well. The Mi 8 Pro comes in 6GB and 8GB variants, as well as two more colour options – Blue and Gold.
The rest of the spec sheet is a familiar sight. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro has a 6.21-inch 2248 x 1080 OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, a 12MP + 12MP dual rear camera setup, and a 20MP front-facing IR camera. As for internal storage, 128GB seems to be the only option.
In terms of price, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro will be priced at RMB3200 (~RM1934) for the 6GB/128GB model, and RMB3600 (~RM2176) for the 8GB/128GB model. Shipping of the Mi 8 Pro is said to start on 21 September, but there’s no world on local availability yet.
