Less than a week after concept image renders of the OnePlus 6T was leaked online, OnePlus itself has confirmed the phone’s official launch date. Along with a hint that its next flagship device will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The hint was confirmed by the company via a smartphone wallpaper published on the China-based blog site Weibo. The wallpaper in question is simple by design; it simple sports a black background with the official launch period laid out in a similar clock and date design in a theme similar to the ones used on the OnePlus 6.
At the bottom of the wallpaper, a bright green circle enclosing a pattern stands out; a blatant hint that the OnePlus 6T’s display will be housing a in-display fingerprint sensor.
If that wasn’t enough of a confirmation, another image of what appears to be the official box cover of the phone showcases the front schematics of the phone, complete with the words “This is for you. Thank you for dreaming with us!” written at the top. Along with the alleged in-display fingerprint sensor located at the bottom of the phone.
Now, we should make it absolutely clear that the phone displaying the wallpaper here isn’t the actual OnePlus 6T. We initially believed the phone to be an Oppo F9, but multiple sources have pointed out the possibility of it actually being an Oppo R17 Pro. Whatever the phone model, it’s not all that surprising that OnePlus would use an Oppo phone, considering the company itself is a sister entity to the latter.
Beyond the images, no additional information about the phone has been posted. However, It is speculated that the OnePlus 6T will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, as well as a triple-camera setup, which would make it the second Android smartphone after the Huawei P20 Pro to sport such a camera setup.
