It appears that rumours about Samsung’s first foldable smartphone might become a reality a lot sooner than expected. Specifically, the phone could make its debut as early as the end of this year.
During an interview with CNBC, DJ Koh, President of Samsung Electronics, confirmed that his company was indeed working on such a device. He even hinted that a working unit could be presented at the Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco, which is set to take place in November.
Beyond that, Koh refrained from mentioning specifics about the phone, such as how the folding display would function or the hardware that would power the device. Koh instead decided to talk about how Samsung came arrived at the idea of a smartphone with a foldable display, how it was trying to differentiate the experience from that of a tablet.
In any case, we’ll just have to wait and see what Samsung has in store for us this coming November.
