HP has just announced the Omen 15 and Omen 17 gaming notebooks for the Malaysian market. That said, HP is being pretty secretive about the specs for each model.
To start, HP tells us that both models come with Full HD displays with 60Hz and 144Hz refresh rates, as well as a G-SYNC option. In terms of hardware, we were told to expect up to an Intel Core i7-8750H processor, as well as Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 GPUs. As for RAM, the highest amount being stated is 8GB DDR4.
When it comes to storage options, there seems to be all sorts of configurations, but unfortunately HP hasn’t shared any details on exact figures. All we know is that there are SSD, HDD, and SSD plus HDD options.
The HP Omen 15 starts decked out with the Intel Core i7-8750H processor and 8GB of RAM. As for options, it’s got an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 GPU, 128GB of storage in SSD and another 1TB in HDD. The priciest version comes instead with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, but forgoes the SSD storage.
Despite this, the design of the Omen 15 allows you to access the RAM and storage bays with the removal of just a single panel that’s locked using Philips screws. This means you can have the model with the GTX 1060, and still add in an SSD of your own after purchase. That said, it’s not yet clear if you can have more than 8GB of RAM.
The HP Omen 15 is already available now, with prices starting from RM4485. The HP Omen 17, on the other hand, retails from RM8699, but will only be available starting mid-September.
