Anyone looking for a compact yet competent camera should check out the latest offering from Panasonic. The Panasonic LX 100 II is a follow up to the original model that launched back in 2014. And now comes with a higher resolution 17MP multi-aspect sensor behind the same lens as the original model.

The Leica 24-75mm (35mm equivalent) f/1.7-2.8 lens delivers great performance across the board for most photography requirements. In addition, the abundance of manual controls on the camera will surely appeal to many avid photographers. It has direct controls to aperture, shutter speed and exposure; all within reach of the operator’s hand. It also features a multi-aspect toggle to choose between 3:2, 16:9, 1:1 and 4:3 image ratios.

Panasonic has also updated the LCD to 1.24 million dots with touch capability. There is also more on-board buffer memory, allowing up to 33 RAW images to be captured at 11 fps. It should be noted that this goes down to 5.5 fps when the continuous autofocus function is in use.

The LX100 II menu has also been updated with additional photo modes. This includes the L. Monochrome, as well as the high contrast L. Monochrome D picture styles, along with an updated 4K Photo mode with better support for Post Focus, Focus Stacking and Sequence Composition. A first for the LX100 series is the inclusion of Bluetooth for remote wake up, image transfer and simple shutter release using smart devices.

The new Panasonic LX100 II will be on sale from October onwards at an expected retail price of US$999 (~RM4,101).
