Few hours ago, ASUS has lifted the veil on two brand-new ROG notebooks with one of them being the Strix SCAR II GL704. If you’re thinking that the name Strix SCAR II sounds familiar, it’s because one such notebook was announced some two months ago.
However, that particular model which is also known as GL504 is equipped with 15-inch display. The GL704 on another hand is equipped with 17.3-inch display instead but based on the product photos we’ve seen, they are no far off from each other.
Since it’s essentially the same machine with a bigger screen, some of the numbers on the spec sheet will be familiar. Alongside the 144Hz 17.3-inch Full HD display, the laptop also carries up to Intel Core i7-8750H, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe solid state drive.
Moving onto the Zephyrus S, ASUS has apparently managed to squeeze a 15.6-inch Full HD display into a 14.2-inch form factor, so it’s a little smaller than the preceding Zephyrus M which is already more compact than the original Zephyrus. Together with a 144Hz display panel, the Zephyrus S also comes with an Intel Core i7-8750H processor.
As for other components within the new Zephyrus S, we are looking at up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q GPU alongside the ability to support up to 16GB of RAM. There is also another variant with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphic that can fit up to 24GB RAM.
Meanwhile, ASUS has not furnished us with local prices and availability for any of these new ROG gaming laptops. Nevertheless, we’ll be having some hands-on time with both laptops soon, so stay tuned for that.
