A Huawei executive has recently confirmed that the company is currently running tests on the latest Android 9 Pie update internally. So far, they only confirmed four models that are involved in the testing: Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20 (and likely P20 Pro too), Honor 10 and Honor V10 which are all Kirin 970 devices.
Another announcement also pointed out that more Huawei devices will be tested very soon although not timeline was mentioned. Nevertheless, the company will be announcing the Android 9 Pie upgrade plan for its devices once it completes the evaluation.
As Huawei’s EMUI implementation goes quite deep into the Android operating system, it is likely that the company need some time to work it out for the Android 9 Pie’s iteration of EMUI. While Huawei phone owners and fans might be eager to see the update in action soon but it is more important for the company to get the implementation right rather releasing something that is not usable.
With that, we’ll keep you posted once we hear more from Huawei regarding its Android 9 Pie upgrade plan. So, stay tuned.
