After numerous leaks and rumours, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is finally official. Featuring a brand new, “mightier” S Pen, along with huge storage and battery capacities, the Note 9 is easily Samsung’s most impressive phablet yet – even if it doesn’t look particularly different from its predecessor.
Without a doubt the S Pen is the Note series’ signature feature, and it’s better than ever on the Note 9. Now equipped with Bluetooth, the new S Pen can be used as a remote control. Say you’re doing a presentation with the Note 9: you can click the S Pen’s button once to move to the next slide, or twice to move back.
Oh, speaking of which, the Note 9 can run DeX without any dock. All you need to do is connect the phone to a display using an HDMI adapter.
Aside from that, the Galaxy Note 9 is finally equipped with a large battery. Unlike the Note 8’s smaller 3,300mAh battery, the Note 9 features a much more practical 4,000mAh cell. Large enough for Samsung to claim an all-day battery life with the new device, in fact.
Storage options for the Note 9 got upgraded too. There are now only two variants of the phone: a 128GB model with 6GB of RAM, and a whopping 512GB variant with 8GB of RAM. On top of that, the Note 9 has a microSD card slot too, allowing users to store up to 1TB of data.
Other specifications of the Note 9, as expected, are very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9+. These include a 6.4-inch 2960 x 1440 Super AMOLED Infinity Display, an Exynos 9810 chipset, a 12MP + 12MP dual-camera system with dual OIS, an 8MP front-facing shooter with autofocus, IP68 rating, as well as stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
As for colour options, the Note 9 is available in four distinct colourways: Ocean Blue, Lavender Purple, Metallic Copper, and Midnight Black. Each of them have colour-matched S Pens, with the exception of the Ocean Blue variant – this particular colour choice has a striking yellow S Pen instead.
Incremental upgrade or not, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is still a very respectable flagship smartphone. If you’re keen to get it, you won’t have to wait for long – the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to arrive in Malaysia as early as next week on 15 August.
