The Razer Phone certainly impressed mobile gamers with its 120Hz display and stellar gaming performance. As it turns out though, Razer is already working on the successor to the phone which apparently will be released later this year.
During the recent Chinajoy 2018 digital entertainment expo, Razer Global’s VP and also GM for China, Chen Xiaoping has stated that the sequel phone will be coming out by the end of 2018. Chen has also confirmed that the device will be heading to China which is rather apt given the occasion but didn’t provide further information regarding the phone’s release in other markets.
He also mentioned that the new phone will use Qualcomm’s latest SoC. While not explicitly mentioned, this could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 that has been rumored to launch towards the end of the year and that clearly fits the expected release timeline for Razer Phone 2.
The first Razer Phone was a niche device that saw its potential at a targeted market and exploited it to the fullest. Will the Razer Phone 2 copy the same design, market strategy and feature set or branch out to a more mainstream focus is still yet to be seen, so stay tuned for more on the new Razer Phone 2.
