It’s worth noting that AMD’s 2nd Generation Ryzen Threadripper processors will work with existing X399 motherboards, since they are based off of the same socket: TR4. AMD boldly mentioned that it has managed to break the single socket overclocking record on Cinebench R15 with the Threadripper 2990WX, which achieved a score of 7,618 – the recored was previously owned by Intel with its Core i9-7880XE CPU (5,828 points).
AMD stated that its 32-core Threadripper 2990WX CPU is open for pre-order starting today, and will be made available starting 13 August. Pre-orders and market availability of all three other new Ryzen Threadripper processors will be announced in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, the release date for all four of these processors in Malaysia was not detailed by AMD at the time of writing.
