Sony officially announced its new Master Series TV lineup today. The new Master series comprises two new models, the A9F and the Z9F, and both models are fitted with Sony’s Picture Processor X1 Ultimate processor.
Both the A9F and Z9F are 4K HDR TVs, and both models also come with a special mode call Netflix Calibrated Mode. On the subject of sound, the TV utilise Sony’s Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology. First introduced last year with Sony’s A1 series, the Acoustic Surface Audio+ in the A9F and Z9F have been given an upgrade. It now comes with an additional actuator and subwoofer situated in the centre of the display, thus giving both TV models a 3.2 channel sound system.
On a side note, there is a difference in the type of display panels for both the A9F and Z9F. The A9F is fitted with an Sony’s own OLED panel with Pixel Contrast Booster, while the Z9F is fitted with a full array LCD panel with backlight LEDs. More importantly, both displays will still be able to make full use of Sony’s TRILUMINOS display technology.
Like most of Sony’s top-end TVs these days, The Master series models are Android TVs. They run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo OS and can make us of Google Assistant. Also, instead of using the remote control to do a search, Sony has made the entire search experience hands-free for the A9F and Z9F.
In terms of availability, Sony says that the A9F Master series will only be available in Malaysia starting from September onwards. The TV will come in two sizes: 65″ and 55″. No official pricing was provided. Sadly, Sony also announced that it will not be bringing in the Z9F Master series TVs into Malaysia.
