Back about a month ago, we reported on AMD’s 2nd generation Ryzen Threadripper 2990X HEDT CPU being listed online for a tidy sum of €1,509 (~RM7152). At the start of this week, electronics store Canada Computers briefly listed the 2990X on its site, with an asking price of US$1850 (~RM7524).
Comparing the previous pricing with the current, we can more or less estimate that the price of AMD’s upcoming top of the line HEDT CPU will fall within the RM7000 range. Additionally, Canada Computers also went a step further by confirming the CPU’s serial code. It also listed down the 2990X as having an 80MB cache and a 250W TDP; the latter confirming earlier reports of the CPU’s power consumption.
AMD’s 2nd generation Ryzen Threadripper 2990X HEDT CPU was first announced during Computex 2018. The CPU will be fitted with 32-cores and 64-threads, with each core running on a max all-clock of 3.4GHz, and a Precision Boost clock of 4GHz.
Lastly, the new Ryzen Threadripper CPUs will be compatible with all currently existing X399 motherboards, though we imagine that a BIOS update will be needed in order to properly run the new processor.
