Xiaomi just unveiled two new successors to the Xiaomi Mi A1: the aptly named Mi A2, and the more affordable Mi A2 Lite. Although Xiaomi did not give any specific launch window for these two Android One phones in Malaysia, we do know that they will be landing on our shores in the very near future.
During the launch event of the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, Xiaomi confirmed on stage that both phones will be coming to Malaysia. On top of that, we were also told that they will be available locally “very soon,” and there will be a media briefing in Malaysia for these two phones next week.
Chances are, the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite will be launched in Malaysia sometime next month in August. After all, both phones have already been registered with SIRIM.
Out of the two phones, the Mi A2 is the higher-end device. It features a 5.99-inch 18:9 Full HD+ display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of internal storage, a 12MP + 20MP dual-camera system on the back, a 20MP front-facing shooter, as well as a 3,000mAh battery.
As for the Mi A2 Lite, it features a smaller 5.84-inch 19:9 Full HD+ notched display, a Snapdragon 625 chipset – the very same SoC that powered the Mi A1 – 3GB or 4GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup, and a 5MP selfie camera. Even though the Mi A2 Lite is smaller than the Mi A2, it actually comes with a larger 4,000mAh battery too. However, it’s also a thicker phone, naturally.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite are very interesting Android One devices, and they should provide very good value for money as well – it’s Xiaomi devices’ key selling point. We expect to learn more about the local availability of these two Android One devices next week at Xiaomi’s media briefing.
