We now know that Samsung has a new smartwatch on the way thanks to a filing with the FCC. Something called the Samsung Galaxy Watch appeared on the certification body’s database, and includes schematics and some early specifications list.
From the schematics in the documents, we know that the watch will have a metal body, and includes wireless charging. The body itself measures 51.2 x 43.4mm, which is bigger than the Samsung Gear S3 Classic. Inside is a 700mAh battery.
Also listed in the filing is 4G LTE certification, which means the Samsung Galaxy Watch will support 4G via a SIMcard or eSIM. There is also Bluetooth LE on board for smartphone connectivity.
No news if the watch will use Tizen or Android as the operating system, but traditionally the Galaxy branding is associated with Android within Samsung. We may be seeing the watch unveiled alongside the Note 9 at the Unpacked event in August, so stay tuned for more info then.
