The Xiaomi Mi 6X was introduced back in April this year, and it seems like the mid-range phone is finally coming to Malaysia. However, it’s not clear yet if the phone will be marketed as the Mi A2 on our shores.
As usual, we were going through SIRIM’s database when we saw that Xiaomi registered a phone with the model number M1804D2SG. This is in fact the Mi 6X, and it was registered with the certification body just today. Chances are, Xiaomi Malaysia is gearing up to launch the phone locally.
In terms of hardware, the Mi 6X is quite well-equipped for a mid-range smartphone. It features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ 18:9 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with up to 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, and a 3,010mAh battery.
When it comes to photography, the Mi 6X is quite competent too. It has a 20MP + 12MP dual-camera system, and through pixel binning, the 20MP sensor has a large pixel size of 2µm – pretty darn impressive. The front-facing shooter, on the other hand, is a 20MP camera with f/1.75 aperture.
We still don’t know exactly when the Xiaomi Mi 6X will be officially introduced in Malaysia, but now that it’s been registered with SIRIM, we imagine it won’t be long now. It remains to be seen if the Mi 6X will be marketed as the Mi A2 here in Malaysia.
