BlackBerry has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone, the KEY2 here in Malaysia. The phone, which was officially announced nearly a month ago, is the follow-up to last year’s BlackBerry KEYone.
Specs-wise, the model that BlackBerry is bringing into the country houses Qualcomm’s new power-efficient Snapdragon 660 SoC, 6GB RAM, 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded by an additional 256GB via the microSD card slot. The QWERTY keypad is also present, but with the KEY2, the phone comes with a new Speedkey that allows users to swap through apps without having to return to the homepage first.
The display of the KEY2 is a 4.5-inch IPS touch display, with a native resolution of 1620 x 1080 pixels. The KEY2 is also the first BlackBerry smartphone to feature a dual 12MP+12MP main camera setup. At the front, the KEY2 features a simple 8MP camera sensor.
Last but not least, the KEY2 is powered by a 3500mAh non-removable battery that, coupled with the energy-efficient Snapdragon 660 SoC and smaller display, BlackBerry says allows the phone to last for up to two days on a single charge.
The BlackBerry KEY2 will retail at an SRP of RM2599. It will be available from 12 July 2018 onwards, and can be purchased via all authorised Brightstar Distribution Sdn Bhd resellers. The phone will also be available for purchase online via Shopee.
In conjunction with the phone’s launch, Shopee will also be holding a Shocking Sale for the phone on the same day from 9AM onwards, where the e-commerce site will be selling the phone for just RM2449 and providing a free Bluetooth headset worth RM109 with every sale of the phone on that day.
