An FCC filing, has revealed specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 9; notably that the S-Pen features Bluetooth LE. This connectivity should allow Samsung to integrate more features into the stylus; overcoming the limitations of the Wacom technology that it’s been relying on until now.
Rumours of the S-Pen’s new features have already begun floating around. These include remote camera trigger, music control and even a Bluetooth speaker, though the last is highly doubtful. Unfortunately, as the S-Pen now will use Bluetooth to communicate, we can expect it to be thicker than previous generations as a battery is definitely needed to power the stylus.
Also on the cards are new colour options for the Note 9. Thanks to a colour declaration for the S-Pens, we know the Note 9 will be one or two new hues during launch. The colours to be offered are: Black, Grey, Violet/Purple, Blue and Brown. From the list, Brown is the new option as it was not offered on the Galaxy Note 8.
August 9 is the official Unpacked event date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. We can expect more details to appear online as the event date approaches.
