Remember the leak of the Samsung Android Go device? Well, a new leak is suggesting that rather than a stock Android experience, the Samsung device will be running a stripped-down Samsung Experience UX with Go apps installed instead.
According to Sammobile, the device will not run the lightweight Android OS. Instead running a standard-looking Samsung Experience UX with Android Go versions of apps such as Youtube, Maps and Google. That said, it appears to conform to Google’s mandate of being based on Android 8.0.
At the same time, we can see that the phone is devoid of any hardware buttons on the front, with navigation done purely using on-screen controls. As Android Go is intended to work with minimal specs, so does this Samsung device. It looks to feature 8GB of internal storage with 5GB available to the user after installing the OS.
The goal to achieve the lowest price point while still delivering a respectable Android experience is at the core of the Go program. People may argue on the ‘stock versus skin’ point, but Samsung may deliver a smooth Android experience even with the Samsung Experience UX on board. We will have to wait for the first looks after the device is launched sometime this year.
