Adobe has rolled out an update for its Adobe Scan app that improves on its ability to pick out text. This employs the Adobe Sensei technology to not only scan business cards, but also interpret the information and use it to create new contacts.
The update allows the Adobe Scan app to instantly create a new contact in Android or iOS from a single business card. Automatically using the information on the card to fill out the relevant fields. All without the need for additional input from the user.
Adobe Sensei is the company’s machine learning and artificial intelligence effort to automate certain functions within its services. It’s applied to the Creative Cloud to aid in editing photos and videos, and is also used in the Document Cloud for things like digital signatures and visually impaired accessibility.
In the case of Adobe Scan, it can also convert business cards into PDF formats. And even remove unwanted details – like fingers – from images of business cards.
This update coincides with the Adobe’s closer integration with Microsoft’s productivity suite. Which has introduced the option of editing and creating PDF files from within Microsoft Office 365, albeit only for paying customers.
