Corsair is looking to expand its portfolio into the realm of video game streaming accessories. To that end, the company renown for its memory, SSDs, PC casings and cooling solutions acquired Munich-based streaming company Elgato Gaming.
While the brand Elgato Gaming wouldn’t be a familiar name among the general PC gamer, the company is actually pretty well-established among video game streamers for its equipment. To be clear, Corsair is only acquiring the Elgato Gaming division, and not not the entire Elgato brand. This means that Corsair will be acquiring the brand’s lineup of internal and external video capture cards, its Stream Deck, Cam Link, as well as its own green screen.
At the time of writing, Corsair did not reveal a lot of information about the deal, neither did it specify how much it was acquiring Elgato Gaming for. However, it did say that its new acquisition will still be operating as a separate brand within the company. Meaning Elgato Gaming will still be working out its current office in Munich, Germany.
