Initially announced last month in New York, the new Acer Predator Helios 300 with Intel’s latest eight generation processors and 144Hz display is now in Malaysia. Retailing from RM3,999, this is a pretty reasonably priced gaming laptop.
We first spotted this new variant of the Helios 300 on Tech Hypermart’s online store. There, the company is listing two new models of the gaming laptop: a Core i5-8300H variant, and a higher end Core i7-8750H model.
One of the biggest upgrades to this year’s Helios 300 is its display: it now comes with a fast 15.6-inch 1080p 144Hz display. It’s quite an upgrade considering the fact that its predecessor only had a conventional 60Hz panel. Unfortunately, the 144Hz display is only limited to the Core i7 model – for our market, at least.
Other specifications of the Helios 300 include 4GB or 8GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, a 1TB HDD paired with a 128GB SSD, as well as Windows 10 Home out of the box.
The base model of the Acer Predator Helios 300 with a Core i5 processor and 4GB of RAM retails at RM3,999, while the higher-end variant with a Core i7 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 144Hz display goes for RM5,199. It’s not exactly affordable, but it’s certainly one of the most interesting GTX 1060-equipped gaming laptops.
