According to a recent report from Korea, Samsung apparently has won a large order for OLED displays. Interestingly, that order is said to come from Huawei and there are hints that the displays might end up on the upcoming Mate 20 Pro.
The same report also states that Samsung is in the final stages of full-scale production as Huawei is in the process of verifying samples. If all goes to plan, the production is set to happen sometime in Q3 of 2018. This seems in line with an expected launch date of Q4 2018 for the Mate 20 series.
While not explicitly mentioned, the Mate series has long been the large-screen member of the Huawei family, with the Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 10 featuring a 5.9-inch display. As the current P20 series, specifically the P20 Pro featuring a 6.1-inch display, it is logical that the Mate series will see a bump in screen size, taking into account the trendy 18:9 screen ratio.
As it is still early days, do take this news with a grain of salt. We should be seeing more Mate 20 news in the middle of the year, as the launch date closes in. Stay tuned to learn more.
