Alongside the plethora of software-based announcements that Apple has made during its WWDC keynote, was the introduction of full Dolby Atmos support for the Apple TV 4K. The addition of this new feature will make the Apple TV 4K the first and only streaming media player to support both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
What makes the addition of Dolby Atmos to the Apple TV 4K even more interesting is the fact that it will be automatically applied to movies that one owns… for free (supported titles only, of course). Apple has mentioned that the update containing Dolby Atmos audio support will arrive in Fall 2018.
Another notable addition to Apple’s upcoming tvOS update is adding more informative details to its panoramic screensavers. Now, users are able to get a brief idea of where the location on screensavers were taken. Moreover, Apple has also partnered up with NASA and has introduced a new screensaver called “Earth.” It features a panoramic view of our beloved planet from the ISS (International Space Station).
Again, like the Dolby Atmos update, Apple’s screensaver-based updates will also arrive sometime in Fall 2018. Those aside, do check out our coverage of Apple’s WWDC 2018 keynote here.
