Apple has announced a new notification system for iOS 12, which notably includes grouped notifications. This is something that Apple users have been asking for since it was introduced on Android for the longest times. That said, Apple hasn’t spent its time idly, and has made the wait worth it.
The new grouped notification system will allow users to not only collect notifications by apps, but also by categories, allowing them to focus these messages into fewer pop ups. This essentially creates a cleaner experience for iOS users. The grouped notifications can be dismissed by swiping them away, just as they normally would if they were individual notifications.
At the same time, iOS 12 will introduce a new Do Not Disturb mode. This one is designed for helping users sleep at night by blocking notifications from appearing when the iPhone user should be asleep. That’s pretty much it, since the lockscreen still looks the same, albeit without being overwhelmed by notifications.
