Aside from ROG Phone, another new product that ASUS has also unveiled for Computex 2018 are two gaming laptops under its ROG Strix family. These new laptops are the direct successor to its SCAR and Hero which has just received the 8th Gen Intel Core H-series refresh last month.
According to ASUS, among new changes that the company has implemented on these gaming laptops is narrow display bezel together with 5.6-inch IPS display panel that has 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. ASUS has also utilized semi-transparent key sides on their keyboards in order to make them more visible in the dark.
At the same time, the SCAR II also features transparent WASD keycaps being a FPS-oriented model while the MOBA-oriented Hero II comes with transparent QWER keycaps. Both laptops also feature a new RGB light bar on the front area of their bottom lid and a bigger ROG logo on their upper lid.
In terms of hardware, both laptops still come with 8th Gen Intel Core processors together with up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 for SCAR II and GTX 1060 for Hero II. They also able to support up to 32GB DDR4-2666 dual-channel RAM, 512GB M.2 NVMe solid state drive, and 2.5-inch 7200rpm 1TB hard drive.
At this moment, the pricings for either of these mid-range gaming laptops are not yet known. We were informed that they will be heading to Malaysia soon, so we’ll keep you updated once we heard more from ASUS Malaysia.
