Apple just released the iOS 11.4 update, which brings a slew of new features and improvements. Now, you can finally back up your messages to iCloud, and it’s much easier to sync your messages across different devices too.
Of course, the iOS 11.4 update has a ton of other improvements, but messages in iCloud is one of the most interesting new additions. Basically, with iOS 11.4, messages – either iMessage or SMS – can now be stored to iCloud. These include attachments and photos too, saving more storage space on your device.
On top of that, this allows for easier syncing of your messages across different devices connected to your iCloud. If you were to delete certain messages on your iPhone, it will be reflected on other synced devices too. You won’t have to delete the same messages on each of your device now.
Aside from that, iOS 11.4 also brings AirPlay 2 support. Thanks to this feature, it’s now possible to pair two Apple HomePod speakers for a stereo setup; multi-room audio is now available too. If you have speakers that support AirPlay 2, you can use Siri for music control as well.
The iOS 11.4 update should be available for download on your iOS devices right now. Do note that to start syncing your messages to iCloud, you’ll have to enable it manually in the settings.
