Plenty of details regarding this particular phone have been leaked out for the past few months but the time has finally come for HTC to come clean about its brand new U12+ smartphone. Finally made official earlier this week, it is the company’s latest flagship device to date
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, the U12+ is also equipped with a 6-inch Quad HD+ 18:9 Super LCD 6 display that also supports HDR 10 standard. Accompanied with 6GB DDR4x RAM and up to 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage, it also able to support microSD card with storage of up to 2TB.
Other than that, the U12+ also comes with 12MP UltraPixel 4 f/1.75 and 16MP telephoto f/2.6 cameras on its back. They also come with additional capabilities such 2x optical zoom, 10x digital zoom, optical image stabilization, electronic image stabilization, Ultraspeed Autofocus 2, HDR Boost 2, and the ability to choose RAW format under Pro mode.
In terms of video recording capability, the rear camera of the phone is able to capture footages in 4K resolution at 60fps as well as slow motion footage in 1080p at 240fps. HTC has also implemented 360-degree 3D audio with quad microphones alongside Sonic Zoom and Audio Boost features to help deliver excellent sound quality for video recordings.
At the same time, HTC U12+ is also equipped with dual cameras setup that feature an 8MP sensor and 84-degree f/2.0 lens each. While the video recording capability of the dual selfie camera is not as advanced as the phone’s rear cameras, they still able to deliver video recording at 1080p.
Of course, it comes as no surprise that the U12+ is also equipped with Edge Sense as per U11+ which was released in Malaysia earlier this year. However, the version on U12+ also supports new gestures in the form of double tap and hold in addition to squeeze as per the original implementation.
Last but not least, the IP68-certfied phone also comes with 3500mAh battery that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charger which enables it to be charged up to 50% in just 35 minutes. While the price of the U12+ in Malaysia is still not yet known at the moment, HTC has confirmed that the Translucent Blue version of the phone which allows users to see some of its internal parts will be released in Malaysia by end of June.
