Asus has quietly announced a new powerhouse laptop in the Zenbook Pro 15 UX550GD The impressively 18.9mm thin frame can potentially sport one of the new Intel Core i9-8950HK processors; making it one of the few professional grade laptops to do so.
It’s not all power, as there are also options for a Core i5-8300H or Core i7-8750H, for customers who aren’t willing to spend as much on a laptop. Other specs include an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory, 8GB or 16GB of DDR4 RAM and up to a 1TB SSD.
For its display, the laptop uses a 15.6-inch IPS multi-touch screen. There are two display option for the laptop with one of the screens having a 4K panel that supports 100% of the AdobeRGB colour space. The other option is a FullHD panel that covers 100% of the sRGB colour space.
Port-wise, the UX550GD consist of two USB 3.1 ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, an HDMI display output, a microSD card reader, an audio jack, and a proprietary jack for charging. Not only that, the laptop is also equipped with a VGA webcam and a Harman Kardon-badged stereo speakers. The 171WH battery can last for around 9.5 hours of usage.
The price and availability date for the laptop is not yet available. But do expect the price to be on the premium side.
