It would appear that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has lifted the internet blocks on both Medium and The Sarawak Report. While there has been no official word on the matter, both sites are once again accessible in Malaysia.
The MCMC had originally blocked The Sarawak Report in 2015 for posting reports about 1MDB. The news portal had been told to take down its stories and stop reporting on the matter, but declined to heed the warnings of the commission.
The Sarawak Report then started mirroring its content to the anonymous blogging site Medium; which was subsequently blocked wholesale by the MCMC in 2016.
As it stands the new Pakatan Harapan seems to have ordered the sites unblocked, now allowing visitors to freely read the content.
