Battlefield V was just confirmed by EA. More specifically, it was confirmed on Twitter by the most unlikely of people – late-night TV show host Trevor Noah.
Noah doesn’t outright disclose the official title of EA’s upcoming game in his short video, but it is clear that the upcoming Battlefield installment is going to contain the “V” moniker. Firstly, he actually notes it down at the end of tweet with the words “V EXCITING!”
Secondly, a leak back in March already suggested that the title of the game was going to be called Battlefield V.
#ad The rumors are true (rumors that I started, but still…) I will be hosting the @Battlefield Live Reveal on Wed, May 23rd. Catch it streaming live on the #Battlefield YouTube. V EXCITING! pic.twitter.com/7B3fpTpQ6x

Reports at the time also suggested that the game will be making a return to the backdrop of World War II. One of the reasons behind that theory was because of the letter V. While it is the roman numeral for the number five, V could also stand for Victory – The word most commonly associated with the “V for Victory” campaign that was started by the BBC during World War II.

The final confirmation to the title’s name? Shortly after Trevor Noah posted his tweet, EA tweeted the image that you see at the top of this article. For those of us looking to catch the live reveal, you’ll need to stay up between 4AM and 5AM on 24 May 2018.
