Originally scheduled to take place in mid-May, we have just received the confirmation from ASUS Malaysia that the ZenFone Max Pro M1 launch in our market will take place at the end of this month instead. Prior to this, the phone received its global debut in Indonesia and India.
As per our previous report, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 is equipped with 6-inch full HD+ 18:9 IPS display that also has pixel density of 404ppi and 405nits brightness level. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, the device can be obtained with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.
Camera-wise, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 offers a rear camera with up to 16MP main sensor alongside 5MP depth sensor while it is also accompanied with up to 16MP front camera depending on specific variant. Pre-installed with stock Android 8.0 Oreo, the phone also comes with 5000mAh battery that supports fast-charging.
While the phone’s price in Malaysia will only be revealed at the launch event later this month, ASUS Malaysia stated that it will be quite competitive. Based on the phone’s pricing in Indonesia and India, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 is likely to be a very close competitor to Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
In fact, ASUS Malaysia pointed out that its offering will be priced even lower than Xiaomi’s budget mid-ranger and that’s inclusive of GST. Now that GST will be zero-rated in June, the price could even be lower according to the company.
Meanwhile, we’ll be taking a closer look at the phone very soon. So, stay tuned.
