Previously, we reported that the luxurious Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS will be arriving in Malaysia sometime this month. Although we haven’t heard from Huawei Malaysia yet, several local retailers are already taking pre-order for the Mate RS – it retails at the same price point as previous Huawei Porsche Design phones too.
On Lazada, G Store and Mobile2Go – essentially the same retailer – are currently listing the Mate RS for pre-order. Set at RM6,999, both of them are also offering freebies worth RM999. These include a Huawei Colour Band A1, a JBL Flip 3 speaker, a 10,000mAh powerbank capable of SuperCharge, and a hotel voucher for Vietnam or Philippines.
Certain retailers on Shopee are taking pre-orders for the Mate RS too. DirectD and etronics are both listing the Mate RS for RM6,999, but unlike Mobile2Go’s offer, there are no freebies thrown in.
The Mate RS is really one of Huawei’s most ambitious smartphones yet. Not only does it ship with the same impressive Leica triple-camera system found on the Huawei P20 Pro, it also features an in-screen fingerprint sensor and support for quick wireless charging.
According to these listings, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS is expected to ship between 16 to 18 May 2018. RM6,999 for a smartphone is certainly a hefty price tag, but it may still appeal to certain consumers – especially fans of Porsche Design. Click here to learn more about the Mate RS.
