UPDATE – 14 May, 400PM: OPPO Malaysia has revealed in a separate email to media that the R15 series will be launched on 24 May.
ORIGINAL STORY – 14 May, 1235PM:
While the OPPO R15 and R15 Pro were revealed in China around two months ago, it is only today that OPPO Malaysia has revealed that at least one of these devices might be heading into our market soon. This is based on a teaser that the company has sent to media members before publishing it on Facebook.
The imminent release of R15 series in Malaysia will mark the return of OPPO R-series in our market after the company decided not to bring over its R11 series smartphones here. In their absence, OPPO Malaysia can be seen focusing more on the F Series which include the F5 and F7 devices.
Featuring the same design language and 6.28-inch OLED 19:9 full HD+ OLED display, the R15 is equipped with MediaTek Helio P60 while the R15 Pro (also known as Dream Mirror Edition in China) carries a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. Both of these phones also feature 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage as well as 20MP f/2.0 selfie camera.
In terms of rear camera, OPPO has chosen the combination of 16MP and 5MP sensors for R15 while the R15 Pro comes with a slightly different setup that features 16MP and 20MP sensors instead. Interestingly, there are not much differences between their battery capacities which are rated at 3450mAh and 3400mAh respectively.
Meanwhile, the release date of R15 and R15 Pro in Malaysia is not yet known at the moment. Nevertheless, we expect OPPO to reveal it very soon given the sudden appearance of the teaser today.
